I first heard the phrase, "the road is the goal", in German (der veg ist da ziel) on a night bus speeding north towards Mongolia in July of 2005. When I asked a Swiss traveler what it meant, he told me that it referred to Camino de Santiago, the Way of St. James. Looking into it a bit more, I found the quote attributed to everybody from Buddha to Gandhi to Jung. Many people have probably said it over the years, so if I ascribe to the idea as a philosophy of travel, well, at least I'm in good company.

Dear Moxie,
I didn't know that you had a blog. I like your yurt. How are you?
